The Getty Center
Thinking of what to visit this summer? Well, if you are in the area the Getty Center is a must visit spot!
The Getty Center opened to the public on December 16, 1997, and is well known for its architecture, gardens, and views overlooking Los Angeles. The Center sits atop a hill connected to a visitors’ parking garage at the bottom of the hill. This is a perfect location to get great landscape pictures as well. Located in the Brentwood neighbourhood of Los Angeles, the Center is one of two locations of the J. Paul Getty Museum and draws 1.8 million visitors annually.
The Getty Center is known for its exhibitions and installations. The main exhibition that just began is:
July 24–October 28, 2018, GETTY CENTER
From The Getty Center site, here is the description, “When Dutch culture flourished in the 1600s, a tremendous boom in art production led to vast quantities of highly finished drawings. In this golden age, artists celebrated the world around them through depictions of enchanting vistas, striking portraits of the rising middle class, and scenes of industry and leisure, thereby giving shape to an emerging national identity. This exhibition offers an intimate glimpse of the Dutch Republic—its land and its people—artfully portrayed on paper.”
In addition, Icons of Style: A Century of Fashion Photography, Artists and Their Books/ Books and Their Artists, LA #UNSHUTTURED : Teens Reframing Life in Los Angeles, In Focus: Expressions, Pathways to Paradise: Medieval India and Europe, Beyond Nile: Egypt and the Classical World and these are just a few. Don’t miss out on these great exhibitions that are only on display for a bit of time.
